Police seek suspect in Minneapolis' 16th homicide of the year

July 16, 2012 at 2:49AM

Minneapolis police on Sunday continued to look for a suspect in Saturday's shooting death of a woman on the city's North Side.

Authorities found the woman dead of a gunshot wound inside a duplex on the 1700 block of Glenwood Avenue N. after they were called there around 4:45 p.m. Saturday on a report of a gunshot fired inside a residence.

The victim was the 16th homicide victim in Minneapolis this year, police said.

Her name has not been released.

Some reports indicated that a child was inside the residence when the shooting happened, but police spokesman Steve McCarty said he had not heard that and homicide detectives working the case had not indicated that was true, he said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the department's tips line at 612-692-8477.
