MADISON, Wis. — Madison police are calling the death of a man in an apartment a homicide.

Police Chief Mike Koval says the 26-year-old man was at a party in the apartment attended by between eight to 10 people Friday night into Saturday morning.

Officers responded to a disturbance at the party around 12:45 a.m. Saturday and found an injured man in the apartment. WISC-TV (http://bit.ly/1B6xFeC) reports police did not specify the nature of his injuries.

A police spokesman says the man was visiting people at the apartment when he was killed.

Koval says the man died of cardiac arrest. The scene where the man was killed was chaotic and there are conflicting witness reports about how he died.

The man was alive when police arrived but died at the scene.
