A man died early Wednesday after apparently being shot in St. Paul's North End neighborhood.

Police were called at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday to the 300 block of Burgess Street on a report of shots fired. Officers found evidence of a shooting but no victims, according to a news release.

Minutes later, a man was brought to Regions Hospital in a private vehicle with "an apparent gunshot wound," said Sgt. Mike Ernster, a police spokesman. Hospital staff treated him for his injuries, but he was pronounced dead early Wednesday.

The Ramsey County medical examiner will identify the victim and determine a cause of death. No arrests have been made in the shooting, St. Paul's 10th homicide this year.

"Evidence [of a shooting] was located outside of a home, but investigators are working to determine … where exactly the incident took place," Ernster said.

Investigators are interviewing witnesses, he said.
