Minneapolis police found a man fatally shot in a parked car Sunday night near Franklin Avenue E. and 11th Avenue S.

Officers responded about 8:28 p.m. after ShotSpotter indicated a gun had been fired in the area. The man was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics from Hennepin County Medical Center.

The Minneapolis Police Department is investigating the death. There have been no arrests.

Police will be looking for camera footage that nearby businesses may have available, said Corey Schmidt, police spokesman.

Footage from local businesses played an important role in identifying a suspect in the Sept. 15 early-morning shooting on the corner of Franklin and Chicago avenues. In that case, the entire sequence of events leading up to the fatal shooting was captured on camera, Schmidt said.

"That's huge when it comes to prosecuting these cases," Schmidt said.

Metro Transit buses may also have caught details of the incident on video, Schmidt said.

The Hennepin County medical examiner's office has not released the man's name.

The killing is Minneapolis' 35th homicide of the year.
