A New Brighton man intentionally drove his vehicle into another vehicle, knocking it off the road in a south Minneapolis neighborhood, before getting out and attacking it with a hatchet, police said.

The man, 36, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a dangerous weapon by officers responding to the incident at 7:22 p.m. Monday near the intersection of E. 46th Street and Clinton Avenue S. He was held for two days at Hennepin County jail before his release Wednesday morning pending a criminal complaint.

The other driver, 33, was cited for driving after suspension of his license, according to police records.
