The person who fatally shot a woman in a St. Paul convenience store has been identified as someone who worked there, a police spokesman said Tuesday, but his name was not released.
The shooting occurred about 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Quick Stop Market in the 600 block of Payne Avenue, police said.
Audio from emergency dispatch revealed that "a female tried to stab [the] complainant, says he shot the female." The woman was shot in the chest, according to the dispatch audio.
Officers and Fire Department paramedics came to the woman's aid, but she died at the scene, police added. The woman's identity has yet to be released.
All of the employees in the store at the time have been interviewed by investigators, Ernster said, and no arrests have been made.
Authorities have not revealed a possible motive for the shooting or explained the circumstances leading up to the killing.
Also, whether the worker had known the woman previously "is unclear" at this point in the investigation, police Sgt. Mike Ernster said.
