Two men led police on a wild city-street chase Thursday night that ended on a St. Paul high school football field.

Police were told that a wanted felon, possibly carrying a gun, was near 25th and Newton Avenues N. in Minneapolis around 10 p.m. Officers found the suspect driving and tried to make a traffic stop, but the man fled with a passenger.

Authorities from at least two agencies, using a helicopter and several squad cars, chased the suspects on a winding route to St. Paul's Central High School, where the suspect drove the Ford Explorer onto the school's football field and got stuck in a snowbank.

Stephen Lee Blanks, 30, was arrested on charges of fleeing police and an outstanding felony warrant. The passenger was arrested on narcotics charges. Both were jailed in Hennepin County.
