Police arrest missing sex offender in Roseville

March 30, 2011 at 7:46PM

A dangerous sex offender who had eluded authorities for more than a month was arrested Wednesday afternoon.

Eugene Glaraton, 42, was arrested about 1 p.m. in Roseville by the Department of Corrections Fugitive Apprehension Unit, according to a DOC news release. He was in an apartment complex near Roselawn and Lexington avenues, authorities said.

Glaraton, a Level 3 offender, was convicted in 1987 of raping and fondling a 15-year-old boy. He had been serving time for failing to register as an offender, his second such conviction since 2007.

He was released from prison Feb. 15. Authorities said that on Feb. 20, he cut off his electronic monitoring ankle bracelet and absconded from a halfway house in St. Paul.

Authorities said earlier this month that there were possible sightings of Glaraton in Roseville.
