With the release date of Poliça's debut album now set for Feb. 14 (and a party that night at First Ave), the formal roll-out of the new Twin Cities buzz band and its record has begun. AOL's Spinner site just debuted "Lay Your Cards Out," another song from "Give You the Ghost" (click here for the link). Like the previously streamed gem "Wandering Star," the moody and subtly funky tune features Bon Iver/Gayngs guitarist Mike Noyce on haunting backup vocals, which are now capably delivered at Poliça's live shows by bassist Chris Bierden. Last night's sold-out crowd at First Avenue for Foster the People got to taste the band's stage prowess (it was added as the opening act). You can also get a good idea of the live show by listening to their session on 89.3 the Current last week.

Poliça singer Channy Leaneagh (now changed from her married name Channy Moon Casselle) is clearly making this band her focus, but she will also be playing solo shows in town, including one Saturday opening for Halloween, Alaska at the Cedar Cultural Center. Some of these gigs will feature her former Roma di Luna mates James Everest and Ben Durrant for backers, she said.
