A recent five-game winning streak has moved Minneapolis Roosevelt back to the .500 mark on the season with a 10-10 record.
The biggest reason for the Teddies' turnaround, according to coach Rob Mestas, has been the play of junior point guard Demetrius Durant.
Durant scored 111 points and dished out 37 assists in Roosevelt's past four games, capped by a 34-point, 11-assist outing in a 93-59 victory over MetroTech Academy.
Durant is No. 2 in the Minneapolis Conference in scoring, averaging 18.1 points per game.
Minneapolis Henry's Darius Hill leads the league in scoring, averaging 21.1 points.
Travis not the whole show for DeLaSalleWhile junior center Reid Travis has received the bulk of the attention, defending Class 3A champion DeLaSalle is far from a one-man team.
In the Islanders' three victories last week -- they routed No. 6, Class 3A Blake 79-54, Concordia Academy 88-57 and Cretin-Derham Hall 85-49 -- the spark came from Luke Scott. The senior guard made 13 three-pointers and averaged 19 points per game.
"He was on fire," DeLaSalle coach Dave Thorson said. "[He did it] while defending the opponent's top offensive player. He had one whale of a week."
