Plymouth City Council to interview candidate Monday for next city manager

June 22, 2013 at 10:52PM

The Plymouth City Council has its sole interview for a new city manager Monday.

Of 11 applicants for the CEO-like position, the City Council selected one to interview, Dave Callister, the city's administrative services director. The seven council members will interview Callister at 6 p.m. Monday and then decide whether to select him, interview the other candidates or recruit more candidates.

"He's a strong candidate," Mayor Kelli Slavik said about Callister's financial and management experience.

Since 2012, Callister has overseen Plymouth's administrative services. Before that, he worked at Ehlers & Associates, a financial advisory company that works with cities, was Osseo's city administrator for 10 years and worked for Tonka Bay and Gaylord for a total of eight years.

The next city manager will replace Laurie Ahrens, who is retiring after a total of 35 years in city government. Her last day is July 12.
