The Twins will take a four-game losing streak into Monday night's series opener with the Tigers, as Samuel Deduno returns to the mound.

Tigers righthander Anibal Sanchez will be facing the Twins for the first time in his career. He came over from Miami, along with second baseman Omar Infante in a July 23 trade that sent Detroit's top pitching prospect, Jacob Turner, to the Marlins.

In three starts for the Tigers, Sanchez is 1-2 with a 7.80 ERA. He got roughed up for seven runs over three innings last Wednesday against the Yankees.

Stat of the day: In nine games against the Twins this year, Miguel Cabrera has 15 RBI and Prince Fielder has 11 RBI. Detroit is 5-4 in those games.

Updates: Trevor Plouffe is back in the lineup for the Twins. Tsuyoshi Nishioka has been optioned to Class AAA Rochester.

Denard Span said his collar bone feels better today but is definitely sore, and he's not sure when he'll be ready to play again.

Major League Baseball announced that Twins minor-league catcher Michael Quesada (from rookie-level Elizabethton) has been suspended 50 games after testing positive for methylhexaneamine.
