Plouffe indicates that his rehab stint is over

The third baseman should be back with the Twins today after two games at Rochester. Is he ready to start?

Will Trevor Plouffe be in the lineup tonight when the Twins open a three-game series against the Tigers? Because it sure looks like he'll be available.

Plouffe went 0-for-4 with a walk on Sunday in a second rehabilitation game with Class AAA Rochester. Despite going 0-for-8 in two games, his sore right thumb came through well enough for Plouffe to tweet the following last night after the game:

"Finished up my rehab assignment tonight and got to see Parm and the rest of the @RocRedWings drop bombs all night. Can't wait for tomorrow!"

Plouffe is referencing Rochester teammate Chris Parmelee, who was 3-for-4 with two homers on Sunday. Parmelee now is batting .360 with 15 homers and 41 RBI in 47 games at Rochester. His slash line over the last ten games: .395/.489/.921.

If Plouffe is summoned back from Rochester, will the Twins end this version of the Tsuyoshi Nishioka experiment? Stay tuned.
