One blog called it PROOF PIXAR IS OVER. Yes, that's got to be it. A spent force, creatively. Just as the clip below shows they could never do anything like, say, Toy Story 3:

Kids love this stuff. Adults have difficulty imagining the logical consequences of a world populated by sentient machinery, but that's their problem.
