The combination of high pressure moving into the Southeast and gustysouthwesterly winds blowing from the southern Plains into the Northeast willsend springlike temperatures over a wide area Thursday into Friday. The winds, which could top 30 mph in gusts over the central Plains, will blow warm airfrom northeastern Illinois and Michigan ahead of a storm system moving into thenorthern Rockies. These factors along with sunshine and low humidity values will send the mercurysky-high by afternoon. For the Ohio Valley and Northeast, highs will run 10-20degrees above normal. Locations such as Cincinnati, Ohio, and Lexington, Ky.,will top the 70-degree mark for the first time this year.
The temperatures will be widely welcomed as many areas have endured aroller-coaster ride of cold and warm air over the past week.
