Bungalow era

During the heyday of bungalow-style homes, one invention revolutionized the way food was consumed by people across the world: the tin can. The Twin Cities Bungalow Club is hosting an illustrated presentation by author Brian McMahon, highlighting how tin cans in the late 19th century enabled farmers to sell their produce to a national market, and consumers to enjoy perishable food year-round. McMahon will discuss the architectural, economic, social and technological impact of the tin can, as well as the ways that attractive graphic design helped sell products. 7 p.m. June 21. $5. Bethlehem Covenant Church, 3141 43rd Av. S., Mpls. bungalowclub.org.
