Pick Six: Praise for Bruce Springsteen, Beatles film 'Eight Days a Week,' Leon Bridges, more

Pick Six is a half-dozen cool things in music, from two points of view.

Josh Jacobson of Minneapolis:

1 "The Beatles: Eight Days a Week." This film is 137 minutes of Beatles fun.

2 Karla Bonoff, the Dakota. Only my second time seeing her — more than 38 years after she opened for Jackson Browne. Why didn't she ever make it big?

3 Bruce Springsteen. The book. The outtakes. The numerous interviews. The four-hour-plus shows. We can all hope to be that productive when we turn 67.

Jon Bream of the Star Tribune:

1 Flamingo, Famous Dave's. This 40th-anniversary reunion with three original members of the Minneapolis rock band was tight, terrific and goosebump-inducing.

2 Leon Bridges, Orpheum. He is a wonderful soul showman for millennials with throwback sound and kinetic moves.

3 Lolo's Ghost, Harriet Brewing. James Loney has developed into a top-notch songwriter and compelling frontman.
