Photos of Great Gray Owl with freshly caught mice

Will Stenberg of Duluth took these in the Sax-Zim bog

Will Stenberg is a Duluth wildlife photographer who spends time in the Sax-Zim bog as often as he can. He recently shared these photos of a Great Gray Owl successfully hunting mice. Will photographed two of the owl's hunts in mid-December. He wrote me that wildlife often is what keeps him sane. These are his photos, used with permission. It would be difficult to match this extraordinary image of the owl diving from its tree perch. Will got the photo not only because he is a skilled photographer, but also because he is a patient photographer, waiting for the owl to make its move. In case anyone wonders, the bird is hunting and catching its own wild mice.

In this black-and-white shot the owl is diving on prey.

FILE -- A rent deposit slot at an apartment complex in Tucker, Ga., on July 21, 2020. As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
