PF's 10th Annual Family Fun Shoot This Saturday

Local conservation groups have put on quite an event to generate youth interest in the outdoors.

The 10th Annual Family Fun Shoot sponsored by the by the Mississippi Longtails and Dakota Ringnecks Pheasants Forever Chapters will be held on Saturday, August 28th from 10AM to 3PM at the Dakota County Gun Club in Rosemount.

Youngsters 17 and under and their families are invited to participate in this year's Family Fun Shoot. Activities at the event will include an ATV safety course, archery, pellet and small rifle shooting, shotgun patterning and trap shooting. Participants can also have fun with duck and goose calling, rock climbing, dog training, cowboy action shooting, lessons in wildlife art, laser shooting, and more.

The Family Fun Shoot is Minnesota Pheasants Forever's largest youth-oriented event, drawing more than 700 participants last year. "With the variety of opportunities, it's a perfect place for kids to get outside and spark a love for the outdoors," said Dan Richmond, President of the Mississippi Longtails Pheasants Forever Chapter and Family Fun Shoot co-chairperson, "We've built an activity list so there will be something for everyone."

Youth tickets are $10 at the gate, which includes a one-year Pheasants Forever youth Ringnecks membership and a one-year National Wild Turkey Federation youth Jakes Membership, and personalized instructions for all Family Fun Shoot activities. Accompanying adults and children 5-and-under enter the event free.

The Family Fun Shoot is sponsored by the local Pheasants Forever chapters, the Dakota County Gun Club and the National Wildlife Turkey Federation, with additional support from the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association, Ducks Unlimited, Delta Waterfowl and the Land of Lakes Bowfishing Association.
