Running back Adrian Peterson was held out of practice today because of an ankle injury, making him one of five Vikings who did not take part in the session at Winter Park.

Peterson suffered a sprained right ankle in the Vikings' victory over Washington on Nov. 28. He played in the following two games but was held to a season-low 26 yards on 14 carries last Monday night against the New York Giants.

Update: The Vikings also added a knee injury for Peterson to the report. He hurt the knee in a collision with Tarvaris Jackson in last Monday's game against the Giants.

Also sitting out were quarterback Brett Favre (chest, ankle, right shoulder); left guard Steve Hutchinson (thumb); safety Tyrell Johnson (knee) and safety Jamarca Sanford (concussion).

Defensive end Ray Edwards, who sat out the past two games because of a high right ankle sprain, was limited in practice. Cornerback Asher Allen (ankle) and quarterback Joe Webb (hamstring) were listed on the injury report but did not miss any practice time.

Favre, by the way, said today that even if he can't play again this season because of the injury to his throwing arm he plans to remain with the team.

For the Bears, cornerback Charles Tillman did not take part in practice because of a foot injury. Running back Chester Taylor (knee) and linebacker Pisa Tinoisamoa (knee) were limited.
