Peterson practices, Favre absent Saturday

Quarterback looks doubtful for Monday's game against the Bears

Adrian Peterson returned to practice Saturday after resting two days because of a sore ankle and knee. Brett Favre, however, contines to be sidelined because of a shoulder injury and looks doubtful to play Monday night against the Chicago Bears.

Coach Leslie Frazier said Friday that the team was hopeful Favre would be able to do some work in practice Saturday, but that doesn't look like it will happen. Favre is experiencing numbness in his right hand after suffering a sprained shoulder two weeks ago.

Rookie Joe Webb is expected to make his first career start in place of Favre on Monday.

Frazier said Peterson's absence from practice the past two days was precautionary. Peterson bruised his right knee when he collided with Tarvaris Jackson on a handoff against the Giants on Monday. Peterson also is recovering from a sprained right ankle.

Players not practicing are left guard Steve Hutchinson (broken thumb and safeties Tyrell Johnson (knee) and Jamarca Sanford (concussion). It seems unlikely that any of those three will play Monday.
