A poll of two potential Hall of Famers for their thoughts on playing Thursday night football produced two different answers today.
Cardinals receiver and Twin Cities native Larry Fitzgerald Jr.:
"I hate Thursday night football," Fitzgerald said on a conference call. "It's no fun. You don't get the time to heal your bodies up. I would say probably two guys on each team that if we were playing on Sunday, they would have been able to go. You just don't get time to recover from the injuries that you sustained from the week before.
"It's tough. Especially for the Vikings, having to travel on the short week. It's tougher on the teams that have to travel."
Vikings running back Adrian Peterson:
"It is what it is," he said. "It would be worse if it was Thursday and then you had to play on Sunday. But every team has to do it. That's one thing you look at and swallow for what it is and get it done."
Other highlights from Peterson weekly press conference with the local media:
— On his relationship with Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald Jr.: "We have a good relationship. I'd definitely call him a friend. We keep in contact and talk every now and then and throughout the season. He's a good friend of mine. Me looking at Fitzgerald, I remember when I was in high school looking at him at Pittsburgh. I was like, 'Who is this guy?' I didn't know this school as being that good. But this receiver is amazing, the things he's able to do. I've been watching him since high school, my senior year. I definitely have a lot of respect for him. He's a Hall of Fame receiver."
