Adrian Peterson was asked if it was safe to assume that he would be out there practicing with his thigh injury if it were the regular season.

The running back smiled.

"It's safe to say I'd play on Sunday," said Peterson, who normally doesn't practice later in the year because of wear and tear on his body.

Asked how he was feeling after Tuesday's collision in practice knocked him out of the remainder of that practice and today's practice, Peterson said, "It's doing pretty good. I took a knee to the thigh. It's a thigh bruise, but I'll be OK."

Earlier today, offensive coordinator Norv Turner said everybody held their breath when Peterson went down and stayed down for a while. Peterson said he knew it wasn't anything serious.

"I knew what it was right away," he said. "It was just so painful. That's why I stayed down a little bit."

Peterson said there's no timetable for his return to practice. Even healthy, he wouldn't have played in the preseason.

"I'm sure it will be kind of based off how I feel and the treatment and stuff I'm getting," he said of his return. "The regular season doesn't start for four more weeks. So that's when it really counts."

Peterson was asked about the favorable reaction he has received from fans during this training camp.

"The fans have been very supportive and I'm appreciative," he said.
