ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported this morning that the representatives for running back Adrian Peterson, who is accused of felony injury to his 4-year-old son in Texas, have been in ongoing talks for a plea agreement that could be done as early as this Tuesday, according to Schefter’s sources.
Peterson’s trial is tentatively set to begin Dec. 1. His lawyer, Rusty Hardin, has said Peterson, who is currently on the commissioner’s exempt list, wants a speedy trial so he can return to work.
But should Peterson plead guilty, chances are he would be subject to discipline from the league.
Peterson, 29, last played in Week 1, rushing for 75 yards on 21 carries in a win over the Rams.
