Person atop Robert Street Bridge in St. Paul is brought down

November 13, 2011 at 9:44PM

Somebody climbed to a high point on a downtown St. Paul bridge Sunday afternoon, and police brought her down safely with a crane.

Police spokesman Howie Padilla said the person was atop of one of the bridge's arches, but he could not say whether she actually threatened to jump into the Mississippi River.

Several police squad cars came to the scene in response and halted traffic on the bridge. She was taken down about 3:30 p.m. and taken to Regions Hospital for observation, police said.
