'All's Well That Ends Well'
Tiny Classical Actors Ensemble is hoping to put a unique spin on Shakespeare's convoluted tragicomedy. The relatively new company tackles a narrative that revolves around Helena, the orphan of a deceased doctor, who wants to marry high-born Bertram. After she helps the King of France heal, she is rewarded with her choice of a husband. Bertram, whom she chooses, does not want to be married to her. But she cleverly meets the seemingly impossible conditions he has set for her. Joseph Papke directs a production that includes Danielle Siver as Helena and David Darrow as Bertram. Lewis Black
Substantive standup will always have a long shelf life, a fact evidenced by the always-pissed Lewis Black. The fiery 62-year-old comic has four Comedy Central specials and two Grammys under his belt, but shows no signs of age on his current "In God We Rust" tour. The self-indentified socialist has made a career out of shredding politicians, most notably on his "Back in Black" segment -- a fixture on "The Daily Show" since its inception in 1996. These State Theatre gigs are being recorded for an upcoming TV special, so ready your most attractive laugh. More event details.

'Self (the Remix)'
As part of his continuing artist-in-residency at Intermedia Arts, interdisciplinary playwright, multimedia humorist and poet Robert Farid Karimi will perform his one-man play. A Bay Area native, son of Iranian and Guatemalan parents and UCLA graduate, Karimi plays on Persian politics, masculinity and "pop divination" in his storytelling-style performances. For the 80-minute "Self," Karimi mixes the personal and the political through 23 characters and a punk-meets-disco-meets-hip-hop soundscape spun live onstage by DJ D Double. (8 p.m. Wed.-next Sat. $10-$12. Intermedia Arts.)
