PERFECT PEAR-ING

A fruity riesling from Washington is just right for early spring.

You like pears? Then you should love the Snoqaulmie Winemakers Select Riesling from Washington state's Columbia Valley. There's a honey element, too, in terms of flavor and weight, but just enough acidity and backbone to balance it out. It retails for $9 to $10, but often can be found on sale for $7 to $8. Serve with spicy foods or, well, pears and some Stilton.
