Peregrine Falcons

Nesting at I-394 and Highway 100

It'a probably as bad as driving while making a phone call, but each time I pass the Colonnade Building in the northwest corner of the junction of I-394 and Highway 100, I check on the Peregrine Falcons nesting there. Well, I look to see if one of the pair of birds is visible. They have a nest on a ledge on the northeast corner of the building, 15th floor. It's a tough angle for much of a view. That high at 60 mph, what you see is a little peg on the ledge. One was there today, and male I presume, since the female should be on the nest, which is not visible from below. I drove to the top level of the parking ramp attached to the building to take this photo. The falcon, feathers ruffled by the wind, seemed to be watching his reflection in window glass.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
