Gunfire punctuated a Franklin Avenue bank robbery, after the two suspects jumped the counter and grabbed the loot while pushing around some of the people inside, authorities said Thursday.
The holdup occurred about 3:30 p.m. Monday at Woodlands National Bank in the 1100 block of East Franklin Avenue, according to the FBI.
The two men ordered everyone in the Minneapolis bank to the floor, jumped the teller counter and removed an undisclosed cash from the drawers while pushing people down, the FBI added.
The two fled to a vehicle outside, where one of the men fired a pistol through the vehicle's back window, said FBI spokesman Greg Boosalis.
"That is rare" for a bank robber to discharge a firearm, he said.
No one was struck by the gunfire, and there were no significant injuries from the physical altercations inside the bank, Boosalis added.
A bank surveillance photo showed one of the suspects reaching through a window that had been broken out in a hall door in the rear of the bank.
One suspect was described as black, about 27 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall and 160 pounds. He was wearing a brown parka with fur-trimmed hood, a dark oversized T-shirt, black pants and black shoes.
