Saturday: Every year Penumbra Theatre has a theater camp that is as much about leadership as performance. The teenagers — 40 this year — hone skills that give them power and voice as they write, dance, sing and think critically, not just about theater, but about the world from which they draw inspiration. This has been a particularly tense time for youngsters, given the political climate and tensions around the death of Philando Castile. In this showcase, students will pour their hearts out in monologues under the guidance of leader and teacher Claribel Gross (pictured). They will use music, movement and projections to give shape to their stories, thoughts and dreams. (7 p.m. Sat., Penumbra Theatre, 670 N. Kent St., St. Paul. $15. 651-224-3180 or penumbratheatre.org) Rohan Preston
