Pence vs. Trump on the issues

Immigration Pence: He opposes granting amnesty for people in the United States without authorization. Where they differ: After Trump called for a ban on Muslim migration to the U.S., Pence said that the idea was "offensive and unconstitutional."

Gay rights Pence: He supported efforts to ban same-sex marriage in Indiana and was at the center of the debate over religious freedom laws allowing businesses to refuse service to gay couples. Where they differ: In 2000, Trump supported amending the Civil Rights Act to "include a ban of discrimination based on sexual orientation."

Abortion Pence: He signed into law regulations that add broad limits to women's access to abortions. Where they differ: Trump supported abortion rights until 2011. This year, he said that all abortions should be banned.

Foreign policy Pence: He backs increases in military spending and criticized Democrats who don't use the phrase "Islamic extremism." Where they differ: Pence supported the Iraq war; Trump claims that he was always against it.

Gun rights Pence: He has received an "A" rating from the National Rifle Association and supports a national right to carry a firearm in public. Where they differ: Trump is open to restricting people on terrorist watch lists from buying guns.

Trade Pence: He supports free trade but has criticized enforcement of trade deals with China. He visited Japan and Germany to boost Indiana's trade. Where they differ: Pence has expressed support for the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal, while Trump regularly rails against it.
