U.S. House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi will be in Minneapolis today for a speech (to the American Legion convention), a forum (at the University of Minnesota with U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison about the about the famine in the horn of Africa) and a fundraiser (for U.S. Rep. Tim Walz.)

The fundraiser, which asks for donations up to $2,500 for Walz's re-election campaign, also features both of Minnesota's U.S. senators, Ellison, U.S. Rep. Betty McCollum and Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak. Dayton chief of staff Tina Smith and her husband are hosting.

Last month, DFL chair Ken Martin disparaged House Speaker John Boehner's visit to Minnesota for a $1,000 to $10,000 a head fundraiser as "hobnobbing with wealthy donors at a fancy dinner to raise money for Republicans."
