Pedestrian hit by car, killed in Plymouth was 78-year-old man just 350 yards from home

The pedestrian struck and killed by a car Saturday in Plymouth was identified Wednesday by the Hennepin County medical examiner as John Dale Miklethun, 78.

Miklethun, of Plymouth, was walking north across County Road 6 near Yuma Lane N. just before 11:45 a.m. Saturday when he was hit by an eastbound vehicle, according to Plymouth police. He died at the scene.

The medical examiner's office said Miklethun died of blunt-force head injuries. He was hit just 350 yards from his home.

Plymouth police and the Minnesota State Patrol are investigating.
