Authorities are investigating the traffic deaths of two people in central Minnesota.

In Cokato, 50 miles west of Minneapolis, an elderly woman was struck by an SUV while she was crossing a street with a walker about 5:15 p.m. Friday. Ruby Voight, 91, was in a crosswalk on Hwy. 12 near Johnson Avenue when the westbound vehicle struck her, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Voight was pronounced dead at a nearby air ambulance landing zone. The 55-year-old SUV driver did not appear to be injured.

State Patrol records indicate that alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the incident.

Farther west, the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office got a call about 2 a.m. Saturday regarding a car found upside down and submerged in Kings Lake. The vehicle had been traveling westbound on NE. 60th Avenue in Dovre Township, authorities said. After rescue attempts, they determined that the driver, who has not been identified, had died from injuries suffered in the accident.
