Pedestrian, 38, hospitalized after crash with pickup truck on Hwy. 55 ramp

A 38-year-old man who was a pedestrian on a busy interstate ramp was in the hospital after being struck by a pickup truck Saturday.

The crash happened about 10:05 p.m. on the on-ramp from Hwy. 55 to Interstate 94 in Minneapolis. A Dodge Ram was traveling southbound on Hwy. 55 and entering the southbound ramp to I-94 when it struck a pedestrian at the intersection, according to the State Patrol.

The man, identified as Kelly D. Kindred of Minneapolis, was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center with injuries not considered to be life-threatening, the patrol said. There was no alcohol in his system.

John Valcin, 30, of Minneapolis was driving the truck at the time of the crash, with Guillermo Sanchez, 24, as his passenger. No alcohol was found in Valcin's system, according to the patrol.

The patrol continues to investigate the incident, said spokesman Heath Dienger.
