Pawlenty foray into South Carolina

The trip is another sign Pawlenty's pushing forward on his presidential exploration

Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty is slated to make his first political foray into South Carolina in May, according to an invitation to an event for Republican congressional candidate Mick Mulvaney.

The May 8, $100-a-plate fundraiser gives Pawlenty another pin in the map of early presidential voting states. Since he announced he wouldn't run for a third term, the Republican governor has made two stops in Iowa and two in New Hampshire.

Update: Pawlenty will also appear at a reception for the South Carolina Republican Party on Friday, May 7 in Spartanburg, South Carolina
