Rocker/poet and National Book Award winner Patti Smith will show 60 of her photographs at the Detroit Institute of Arts this summer. The show, titled "Camera Solo," opens June 1 and runs through September 2. It consists of photos shot by Smith with a Polaroid Land camera that she began using in the mid-1990s.

Subjects include people, such as her son Jackson, seen above, architecture and talismanic objects.

The exhibition, organized by the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art in Hartford, Conn., will be accompanied by a 96-page illustrated catalog published by Yale University Press.
