Pattern Change This Weekend

The weather pattern over the northwestern United States will undergo a majorchange by this weekend.A large ridge of high pressure which has been responsible for the period ofdry, mild weather over the Northwest will break down by Friday. This will allowthe strong, Pacific westerlies in the upper atmosphere to break through by theweekend.

The increase in the westerly steering winds will allow storms and abundantmoisture to overrun the region this weekend, leading to widespreadrainfall.

The heaviest rain and strongest winds will impact the mountains and the coastfrom northern California to Washington state.

Snow levels should remain well above pass level on Saturday.
