From Caroline Smith to We Are the Willows, the magazine stuck close to acts that the Current is already playing.

Another day, another music list. Today's offering from Paste is pretty cool, though: The magazine's site lends a spotlight to a dozen Twin Cities acts worth discovering in "12 Minnesota Bands You Should Listen To Now," part of its "50 States Project." Can't wait to see what they come up with in Utah.

Paste's own editor, Josh Jackson, tallied the MN lineup, which pretty much reads like a playlist from 89.3 the Current, minus the acts mentioned in the list's intro as names that readers should aready know (Poliça, Dessa, Jeremy Messersmith, Trampled by Turtles, more). Each entry includes an accompanying song to click on and hear -- perhaps one more small step toward these acts clicking abroad.

Here are the 12 names that made the cut:

(The Minnesota Star Tribune)

Caroline Smith & the Good Night Sleeps
Chastity Brown
Communist Daughter
Guante
Haley Bonar
Joey Ryan & the Inks
Lucy Michelle & the Velvet Lapelles
Night Moves
Prissy Clerks
Rogue Valley
Sleep Study
We Are the Willows
