January 6, 2017 at 2:37AM

The front-seat passenger in a car that crashed in St. Paul Sunday has died, police said Wednesday.

The 25-year-old man was identified as Angel Rodrigo Gil Rodriguez of Minneapolis.

Rodriguez was in a car that crashed into a tree about 9:45 a.m. on Eustis Street at Territorial Road. Police said no other vehicles were involved in the crash.

The passenger side of the vehicle took the brunt of the collision, said Sgt. Mike Ernster, a police spokesman. Rodriguez died Tuesday evening.

Ernster said excessive speed is one of the main factors in the crash.

The car's only other occupant, the driver, suffered bumps and scrapes. The 25-year-old St. Paul man was arrested and booked into the county jail.

No charges had been filed in connection with Rodriguez's death as of Wednesday morning.
