A 1951 Studebaker pickup truck crashed into a ditch while pulling a camper in Wisconsin, killing an 85-year-old passenger. The 74-year-old driver was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, authorities said.
The crash occurred about 1:50 p.m. Sunday on eastbound Interstate 94 near Menomonie, according to the Wisconsin Highway Patrol.
Killed was Vera M. Scoles, 85, of Baraboo, Wis., the patrol said. The pickup's driver, Jerome L. Thiessen, 74, also of Baraboo, was hospitalized in Eau Claire, Wis., with life-threatening injuries.
Thiessen is a well-known classic car and aviation buff in the Baraboo area. In 2008, he donated his Model B Ford truck to the Sauk County Historical Society.
