Parmelee taken off 40-man roster
To open a spot for Ervin Santana on the Twins' 40-man roster, Minnesota designated 2006 first-round pick Chris Parmelee for assignment. The outfielder and first baseman, who batted .249 with 24 homers in 273 games over the past four seasons, becomes a free agent if he goes unclaimed on waivers.
