Winter nature hike

Fort Snelling State Park, 10-11:30 a.m. Saturday

Explore the park's winter wonderland with a naturalist. Look for animal tracks and signs and take in the sights of a winter flood plain forest. (612-725-2724, mndnr.gov)

Snowshoe hike

Meet falcons

Tettegouche State Park, 1-3 p.m. Tuesday

The park's shoreline cliffs have played a large role in the recovery of peregrine falcons in the Midwest. (1-218-353-8809)

Feeder favorites

Wild River State Park, 1-2 p.m. Wednesday

Snow shelters

Cleary Lake Regional Park, 9-11 a.m. Wednesday

Explore techniques for building igloos, snow caves and quinzhees. Then, build your own quinzhee. Equipment provided. Cost is $6. Reservations are required two days before the program. Call 763-694-7777 and reference activity #144567-00. The program is for ages 5-17. A similar program is scheduled again Jan. 6 and Feb. 25 at Cleary Lake Regional Park. (threeriversparks.org)
