Northside parents looking to discover educational opportunities for their kids can head to a one-stop shop Saturday to hear about school choices in the community.

The Explorations in Education event Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the University of Minnesota gives parents a chance to hear from a panel of Twin Cities leaders "working to improve the quality and accessibility of education," according to a release from event host Northside Educational Alliance. That organization works to link families in north Minneapolis with schools around the metro.

Explorations in Education will feature panelists that range from Minneapolis Public Schools principals to a Breck school official to Shakeer Abdullah, the University of Minnesota's assistant vice president for equity and diversity.

"Explorations in Education encourages Northside parents to build relationships with school representatives in order to increase their access to diverse, high quality educational opportunities," the release said.

The event is Saturday, Jan. 7, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the University of Minnesota's UROC building, 2001 Plymouth Ave. N. in Minneapolis.
