Pair of Mudslides Claim over 25 Lives in Peru

Heavy rain from thunderstorms in the Andes Mountains have resulted in a pairof deadly mudslides since Thursday in Peru. The first mudslide claimed thelives of five miners, while the latest mudslide has resulted in at least 20casualties so far, while many more people remain missing.More than 120 homes have been damaged or completely destroyed by this latestmudslide. The mudslide was due to recent heavy rainfall that caused a lake tooverflow and flood down a ravine.

Over the past several months, the Peruvian Andes have experienced one of thewettest rainy seasons in recent years.
