Paint your walls, feed the needy.
Minneapolis-based Hirshfield's said it will celebrate the giving season by offering a 20 percent discount on purchases of its store label interior paint to customers who donate a non-perishable food item. The paint and decorating business said it is partnering with Second Harvest Heartland to distribute the food.
They'll take donations without a purchase, too. You can drop off the food at any of the store's 25 locations (find the closest at www.hirshfields.com); suggested items include boxed meals, soup, rice, pasta, instant potatoes, canned vegetables, pet food and personal hygiene products.
The promotion runs through Tuesday next week, Nov. 24,
