Overrated

I'm all for using your wardrobe to express who you are, but the knit tie doesn't have a point -- literally. With their odd texture and square ends, knit ties are just odd enough to draw quizzical second looks without determining anything about the personality of the wearer. The only reason to wear one should be if it was made for you by a close friend who knits. However, you should beware of these people. Encourage them enough and you'll have a new sweater you have to wear for each of the 12 days of Christmas, each one more cartoonish than the last.

Underrated

Actors in Christopher Nolan films. Nolan, the creative genius behind "The Dark Knight" and "Inception," among others, garners more attention and acclaim with each hit he puts out. But where would those films be without home-run performances by Heath Ledger or Joseph Gordon-Levitt? Nolan hasn't given us a bad film yet, but don't overlook the fact that he's smart enough to give such experienced, talented actors as Michael Caine and Ken Watanabe roles in multiple movies.
