Late night travelers on westbound I-94 in St. Paul will be put on detour as the freeway shuts down between 11 p.m. Wednesday and 5 a.m. Thursday between Marion Street and Lexington Parkway.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation will be putting beams in place for the Grotto Street pedestrian and bike bridge.

While the freeway will reopen for Thursday morning rush hour, the pedestrian bridge will not reopen until November, the DOT said.

In another closure, the southbound ramp from Ayd Mill Road to southbound I-35E closed Tuesday morning and will remain shut down for the rest of the month. Drivers will be directed to exit on Jefferson Avenue, then head south on Lexington Parkway and then east on Randolph Avenue to reach I-35E.

The ramp from northbound I-35E to Ayd Mill Road will close at 7 p.m. Tuesday and will remain closed until the end of the month.

And here's a heads up for the weekend: Both directions of I-35E will be closed between I-94 and Shepard Road from 9 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday. It's all related to bridge projects along I-35E.
