The deaths of four people, including former Eden Prairie resident Randell Voas, an Air Force major, from an Osprey crash in Afghanistan has raised questions about the controversial air craft.

The always reliable Danger Room blog puts the Osprey program into context, including an interview with the author of a book on the trials and tribulations of the program.

This is by no means an authoritative account, but I watched Ospreys try to land in southern Afghanistan a couple of times at Camp Leatherneck, only to pull up at the last minute because of the dust storm they created.
