Osmo Vanska has bravely taken up his clarinet to play chamber concerts during his time in the Twin Cities, but for the first time he will step forward alone for a solo gig with the Metropolitan Symphony on Nov. 22 at Central Lutheran Church in Minneapolis.

The Met is conducted by Bill Schrickel, acting principal bass in Vanska's orchestra. In 2008, the Met premiered a Vanska composition, "The Bridge," which was his reaction to the Interstate 35W collapse. That will be repeated on Nov. 22.

Vanska will play the Mozart Concerto for Clarinet and Orchestra, K. 622.
